Swensens and my sweet tooth

June 3, 2011

My sweet tooth can’t say no to Swensen’s… everytime. So if I don’t have money I find away to stay away from it, no matter what it takes! LOL!

Manorom Sunrise

June 1, 2011

I am not a morning person so rarely do I get sunrise photos (which is a shame, really!)  But one time we were at a retreat in Manorom, a province in Central Thailand I took these photos.  These are nothing compared to the ones my colleagues had– he who wakes up early gets the best photos, eh?  🙂

Sunshine waking me up to a beautiful day…

The fields were ready for the sunshine as well– a brand new day it is!

Sweet and sour fish

May 26, 2011

We had sweet and sour fish at a restaurant just walking distance from our house. At first we never dared to eat there because it looked so fancy we thought it was very expensive. But actually the prices were just fair and I got to eat my all-time favorite dish, except that this is way too spicy than what we have in the Philippines!

Spring rolls!

May 21, 2011

Don’t you just love spring rolls? From time to time, we just want to eat something that is not that spicy– and yes, something familiar!

Marriott Empire Place

May 19, 2011

I am joining Mirage’s

meme, and I am so excited to share my BROWNS!

I am actually writing this post at Marriott Empire Place, one of the best hotels in Bangkok.  No, we did not pay for this short vacation.  This is actually for free, courtesy of my uncle.  Many things in life come for free, after all!  I am so grateful for this much-needed break.

I could not upload all photos, so this is like a “teaser”.  I promise to write posts about this family get-away.  Meantime, enjoy the browns in our hotel room!
Light brown wooden furniture in the kitchen
Chocolate brown tv stand/cabinet in our room

(do you see my notebook there?)
another tv with the chocolate brown stand in the living room
choco brown bed headers in the kids’ room!

and this is our room. choco brown headers still, and I love those blues!

Som Tam

April 28, 2011

You have not been to Thailand if you have not eaten Som Tam.

This is a kind of salad and one of Thailand’s specialties.    Grated papaya, raw string beans, lots of chili,  and peanuts.  You can have a choice between tiny crabs or dried tiny shrimps.  This sweet and sour (and very spicy) dish is my all-time favorite.  Best eaten with fried chicken and sticky rice.

My favorite Thai Restaurant

April 14, 2011

I love the food at Yam Saap. When you actually learn to read Thai, it’s amazing how differently this is actually pronounced, but anyway, this would be the closest to the actual pronunciation. Well, this post is not about Thai language, right? haha!

I forgot what this dish is called, but this is one hot and spicy vegetable dish (and what Thai food is not? haha).  I love the taste of the basil leaves!  I used to loathe it, but well… taste buds can change over time, too!
